SNL needs to shape up!

SNL stopped being funny when they started to pick on Republicans in a mean-spirited way.   It’s not just the way they picked on them that turned me off, but they would make comments and facial expressions that was aimed directly at either republican policy or republican suggestions that lets the viewer know that the actors don’t think it will work. But, and I say this with a Big but, I hear NOTHING in the same tone or manner concerning what the Democrats are doing and saying.

I watched SNL for the first time in years just to see what skit they would use for Palin. I wasn’t watching to be finger pointing, but I truly do love a good satire. I thought the opening skit was good…not as brilliant as I’ve seen SNL do before in the past, but definitely good. It was not mean spirited, and that’s what made it enjoyable. However, as the night went on, there was one negative reference after another concerning the Republican Party and nothing for the Democratic Party. There was a crack about Sen. Craig. He deserves to be ragged out, but he’s not the only person that could be joked about. What about Dem. James McGreevey? Sure, if the fact he preaches one thing and does another, right? Hypocrisy…I’m with you on that. But what does that make closet homosexuals?...hhmmm? Closet homosexuals do and act one way in order to keep others from suspecting their deep personal desires. Hypocrisy…right? Closet homosexuals do and act like this out of FEAR from social consequences.

But I digress, the point I want to make is if SNL wants to be great again, stop with opinions on policy and give equal time for political satire for both Democrats and Republicans without being mean-spirited…that is unless of course SNL has an agenda.
